Noemi holds a BA in Geography and International Relations from Syracuse University and has completed her Master's work in Geography from CUNY Hunter College. Her background is in Urban Population and Latin American Geography. She is currently a Geographer with the US Census Bureau. Her previous GIS work experience includes employment in both the private and government sector. Noemi founded SWIGIS in 1999 and is currently the moderator of the Women In GIS Yahoo Group. Michele holds a Certificate in GIS from UC-Riverside’s “GIS Summer School”. She is currently working on her BA in Environmental Resource Management with a concentration in Land Use Policy and Planning. Michele’s career includes a directorship, more than 15 years experience in “community building” of the organizational kind, writing, editing and publishing newsletters, website design, logo design and other kinds or design work and much more. Megan holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Environmental Biology and Geography from Queens University in Kingston, ON Canada. She has also received her GIS Cartographic Specialist diploma from Sir Sanford Fleming College, School of Natural Resources in Lindsay, ON Canada. Megan started her career in Land Surveying, and has since moved on to Intermap Technologies, specializing in 3D maps and applications derived from both airborne and spaceborne radar. Alicia Canary returned to college studies after 15 years working for the Internal Revenue Service. She is now a senior at CUNY Hunter College, with a double major of geography and studio arts. She lives in the most ethnically diverse county of the United States, Queens County, NY. Which has become a catalyst for her GIS studies and a reoccurring theme in her art.
